And, we’re done! Thanks to all who entered; winners to be announced soon.
Okay, folks, it’s contest time again. Last time, we focused on a forthcoming novel; this time, we’re going to focus on one that’s already out. And just to make things more interesting, I’m offering you two different “levels” of entry.
How to Enter (the simple way)
Using the e-mail form on the contact page, send me an e-mail. The subject line must say “Best of the Worst.” In the body of the e-mail, tell me who is your favorite character from The Conqueror’s Shadow.
But, and here’s the first twist, you cannot pick any of the following:
- Corvis Rebaine
That’s right. You must tell me who your favorite character is other than either the main character, the main villain, or their “pet” demons. Any other character is acceptable.
And that’s really all there is to it… If you want to enter the simple way.
What You Can Win (the simple way)
Once the contest is over, I’m going to simply select two random winners, out of all the entries. If you win (the simple way), I will send you a signed copy of The Warlord’s Legacy, the sequel to The Conqueror’s Shadow. (Obviously, you will have to wait to receive your prize until the book comes out, in January of next year. But I promise, you will get it.)
How to Enter (the more involved way)
So, the above is all you must do to enter; but it’s not all you can do. If you wish, after naming your favorite character as above, you can also write one to three paragraphs explaining why this person is your favorite character (other than the four who are disqualified, of course). Don’t worry if writing isn’t your forte; you won’t be judged on the quality of the writing. Merely making the effort is sufficient.
What You Can Win (the more involved way)
Choosing the more involved option doesn’t increase your odds of winning; but it does net you a better prize if you win.
If you chose the more involved entry, then in addition to sending you a signed copy of The Warlord’s Legacy, I will also send you a signed paperback copy of Agents of Artifice (my Magic: the Gathering novel) and a signed copy of my forthcoming novel The Goblin Corps (though you’ll have to wait even longer–until mid-2011–for that part of your prize. However, I won’t make you wait that long for all of it; I’ll still sent Legacy and Agents as soon as Legacy is released.)
You must enter via the contact page, and your entry must have “Best of the Worst” as the subject line. Entries that come to me via any other method, or that have different subject lines, will not be considered for the contest.
Entries must be received by June 1st, 2010.
You may only enter the contest once. If you enter the simple way, and then later choose to enter the more involved way, you may do so, but you will still only count as having entered one time.
People that I know offline, people to whom I am related, employees of either Random House or Pyr Books, and the winners of any previous contests of mine, are not eligible.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me through my contact page.
Thanks, and good luck.
