So I’ve been doubtful of the concept behind "First Class" since it was announced. I normally don’t care for "watch them when they were young" prequels.<\/p>\n
But you know what? I think this movie actually captured the X-Men better than the previous three. It’s not a flawless movie by any means–there are some lines that are real clunkers–and if it’s really a prequel and not a reboot, there are an awful lot of continuity errors. Still, I had a blast at it, and I think it may be my favorite of the X-Men franchise. (If not, it’s only behind X2. I’ll need to think about it, and probably see it a couple more times for a fair comparison.)<\/p>\n
And while I know it’ll never happen–I doubt there’s enough of a market, and I doubt anyone would do a prequel to a prequel–but damn, I want to see some movies about Erik during his Nazi-hunting days.<\/p>\n
(Part of my liking for this movie may come from the fact that I love<\/em> the idea of period superhero pieces. I want to see more X-Men movies set in the 60s.
