What follows is the tentative cover copy\/blurb for False Covenant<\/em><\/a>, the second Widdershins novel. Some of the more clever among you might have already figured that out from the subtle clues hidden in the headline.<\/p>\n

A warning before you read this, though. It does<\/em> include some spoilers–regarding some particular character deaths–from the first novel, Thief’s Covenant<\/em><\/a>. If you haven’t read the first one yet, and you don’t like having some substantial plot points spoiled for you in advance, you may want to hold off on reading this.<\/p>\n

A creature of the other world, an unnatural entity bent on chaos and carnage, has come to stalk the nighttime streets of the Galicien city of Davillon. There\u2019s never a good<\/em> time for murder and panic, but for a community already in the midst of its own inner turmoil, this couldn\u2019t possibly have come at a worse one.<\/p>\n

Not for Davillon, and not for a young thief who calls herself Widdershins.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been over half a year since the brutal murder of Archbishop Wil\u00adliam de Laurent during his pilgrimage to Davillon. And in all that time, Widdershins has truly tried her best. She has tried to take care of Genevieve\u2019s tavern and tried to make a semihonest living in a city slowly stagnating under the weight of an angry and disapproving Church. She has tried to keep out of trouble, away from the attentions of the Davillon Guard and above the secrets and schemes of the city\u2019s new bishop.<\/p>\n

But she\u2019s in way over her head, with no idea which way to turn. The Guard doesn\u2019t trust her. The Church doesn\u2019t trust her. Her own Thieves\u2019 Guild doesn\u2019t trust her.<\/p>\n
