December 1, 2010: Goblin Corps cover!

Presented for your enjoyment, the cover to my upcoming novel The Goblin Corps. Illustrated by the esteemed and amazing Lucas Graciano.

The book isn’t due out until third quarter next year, but it’s available for preorder now from several online vendors. (And of course, if you don’t care to wait that long, remember that The Conqueror’s Shadow is available in hardcover now, and due out in paperback next month.)

Happy Halloween to everyone out there.

No major news to report–this is mostly an "I haven’t updated in a while" post–but I hope to have some shortly. If nothing else, several of the D&D books coming out in the next month or two are partly mine, and I’ll link to those as they’re released.

My agent and I have a new novel making the rounds of publishers. Wish us luck.

So, another Gencon has come and gone, another month (and change) has come and gone.

First, as was announced at GenCon, there’s a 4E mega-adventure named after the original Tomb of Horrors coming out next year, on which I did most of the plotting/design and a good chunk of the writing. More on that as it gets nearer.

Similarly, by now you’ve probably all heard that next year’s D&D setting is Dark Sun. Well, what you probably haven’t heard is that I’m doing some work on that as well. Again, details when I can.

The cover for The Conqueror’s Shadow is now up on various sites. Again, that’s due out in February of next year from Bantam.

Finally, if you’re in Austin, or are planning to fly in for the con, I’m going to be at the Magic: the Gathering Pro Tour. I’ll be doing book signings for Agents of Artifice. Laura Resnick, author of The Purifying Fire, will be there as well. Not yet sure what my schedule looks like; more on that soon.

And that, I think, is everything I can discuss for the moment. Lots of things in the hopper that may pan out; wish me luck, and I’ll tell you as soon as anything solid happens.

Due to some last-minute finagling, I’ll be attending GenCon this year after all. Not only that, but it appears I’ve got a signing.

On Saturday, from 11:30 to 12:30, Laura Resnick (author of the Magic: the Gathering novel The Purifying Fire) has a signing scheduled in the TCG Hall. Although my name’s not on the schedule–that whole "last minute" thing–it looks I’ll likely be joining her there to make it a joint signing. While the focus is obviously on the Magic novels–her own, as well as Agents of Artifice–I can’t imagine they’d stop you if you wanted me to sign one of the other books I’ve worked on. (And if you wanted to pick up Agents of Artifice while you were there, just because, I wouldn’t exactly be offended.)

I’m also hoping to attend the 4E Extravaganza seminar on Friday at noon, though I’ll just be there as a guest, not part of the panel.

Hope to be seeing at least some of you there!

What’s this? Two updates in less than two months? What’s this site coming to?

For those who may not have seen it on various forums and message boards, I wanted you to know that I have another novel available. The downside is that it’s only available in PDF format. The upside is that it’s free. 🙂

Black Crusade was originally written to be one of the first of the Ravenloft: Dominion line of novels from Wizards of the Coast. "Ravenloft" is the name of a gothic horror/fantasy setting. Although Ravenloft was created for the Dungeons and Dragons game, the Dominion line was meant to give it a new flavor–specifically, rather than drawing characters and domains from various D&D worlds, it would draw them from various periods of real-world history. In the case of Black Crusade, that period was the First Crusade.

Alas, Black Crusade was pushed back on the schedule for marketing reasons, and thus became a victim when the line was canceled. The novel was done, however, and Wizards decided to make it available in electronic format. It was initially released chapter-by-chapter as a weekly serial, but it’s now available in completed form. While I’m disappointed that it won’t see print, I’m delighted that you folks are able to see it in some form.

You can find the link to the PDF download by clicking here.

Sorry for not updating recently. I’ve been working on, among other things, my next novel, and haven’t had a lot of news.

Until now.

The Conqueror’s Shadow is now available for preorder. 😀

I can’t overemphasize how big a deal this is to me. This is my first completely original, non-shared world, 100% pure Ari novel. To have it published–especially through a major imprint like Bantam Spectra–is a thrill beyond belief. And I want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s ever read or bought any of my work; you helped me get here.
