Short book is proving not to be so short.

Still not changing my target word count yet. There’s still time to discover that the latter chapters aren’t running as long as the early ones. But somehow, I doubt it.

28258 / 70000 words. 40% done!

Not quite a full 2K today, but since I have to start packing for Comicpalooza, and since this took me to the end of a chapter, I’m calling it done for the day.

I’m probably kidding myself by not increasing the target word count from 70K at this point, but futile hope is still hope. 😉

30061 / 70000 words. 43% done!

…I’ve decided to take a lesson from Representative Weiner’s personal scandal and increase my fame and notoriety by posting a bunch of Dick pictures.

Yeah, I’m… really not sure I’m actually halfway there yet… 😕

34708 / 70000 words. 50% done!

Didn’t get a full 2K in today, due to other stuff I had to deal with. But at least there was progress.

36112 / 70000 words. 52% done!

About 55% done by word count (based on my target length). But I’m only about, oh, 45% or so done based on my place in the outline.

Okay, so that’s not a dramatic difference, and if the book ends up being a bit longer than 70K, nobody’s going to be upset. But I’m still interested in seeing how close I am to my estimate when all’s said and done.

Of course, I’m also realizing that I’m going to some pretty dark places for a YA fantasy… 😈
