OLD News
This is only a test.
Had this been an actual blog entry, there would have been some content. Or, well, given my posting history, maybe not…
For the record? I hate season-ending cliffhangers. Hate them. With a burning passion that exceeds all rational limits. I don’t find them intriguing; I find them annoying and manipulative. I don’t mind waiting for a couple of weeks, if necessary, but a season? Not so much.
If I like a show, I’m going to keep watching. If I don’t like a show, I’m not. Never, not once, has finding out the end of a cliffhanger been responsible for me sticking with a show I wasn’t enjoying. I don’t know anyone who it has worked on. On the other hand, I have occasionally been driven away from a show by a season-ending cliffhanger that felt too manipulative.
So, TV producers? Cut it the hell out!
19068 / 70000 words. 27% done!
Unfortunately, I am not 27% done according to the outline. Heck, I still have a few hundred words left to write on this chapter. (Though at least I get to write the book’s first gruesome, bloody death in those few hundred words.)
Now, there’s still plenty of time for it to balance out; later chapters could be shorter than I anticipated, just as this one’s been a lot longer. But if not, the book’s going to wind up longer than I’d planned for. Not a disaster–it was a pretty short book to start with–but it’ll throw my schedule off a bit.
