Day the 40th (and last)!

And we. Are. Done.

Not done-done. I mean, there’s still the rather substantial rewriting phase, to take it from zero draft to a genuine first draft. But as far as getting through the thing, beginning to end, first word to last, it’s complete!

86514 / 86514 words. 100% done!

Oh, and just for kicks, here’s a progress bar set for my original target word count, way back at the beginning of this whole mess.

86514 / 70000 words. 124% done!

Too bad this one ain’t paid by the word, huh? πŸ˜‰

This Independence Day…

…remember that when tyranny looms, you look a lot cooler if you’re looming right alongside. 😈

What do you folks think? Should I have this made available as a poster? πŸ˜€

Day the 39th

Still… not… done… Still… moving… end count…. Gah!

I am finishing this book (or at least zero draft of this book) later tonight or tomorrow. Damn it.

85269 / 86000 words. 99% done!

Day the 38th

Yes, I moved the target out again. 😐 But I’m positive–almost–that this is the last time, and I should still be done with zero draft within the next couple of days.

82351 / 85000 words. 97% done!

Ask the Author

I’m going to try something.

In response to this blog entry, leave a question. (Please leave the question actually on my web page, not on Facebook, LJ, Twitter, etc. Only resort to another platform if you cannot post the question on my site, for some technical reason or another. And "I don’t wanna" doesn’t count as a technical reason. πŸ˜‰ ) It can be pretty much anything, as long as it has some tangential relationship to writing. It can be about technique, about why I wrote something the way I wrote it, a question about an event or character in one of my books, stuff about the industry, whatever.

The only restrictions are these: The question should not badmouth any specific person in the industry (writer, editor, artist, etc.). The question should not reveal any major spoilers from my books (and the answer should not require any such spoiler). The question should not discuss any plot or character details of anything that someone else (you, a friend, whatever) is currently working on.

I will choose one question–maybe the one I find the most interesting, or maybe just at random–and post an answer in a week or so. If people find this idea interesting, then I’ll continue to do this on a semi-regular basis. (If I do so, you may repost a question that you’ve posted before, if I haven’t answered it. Who knows, maybe it’ll be chosen at a later date.)

So, anyone interested? If so, let’s hear it.

(Oh, and please feel free to pass the link along to anyone you think might be interested. The wider variety of questions, the better.)
