Well, That was Brilliant

So I just dug up some notes I’d scribbled down years ago. These were brief ideas–sentence fragments, really–for plot points I wouldn’t to include in a particular future project.

I’d still like to do said project. Except that, because it’s been years since I thought about it, I have no freakin’ clue what the hell these notes even mean. Since they’re fragmentary, they were really meant to serve as reminders of larger ideas–ideas that I can no longer even begin to remember. 😕

I can’t be the only author who does this, can I?

Just FYI…

There are some days where "writing" really is nothing but a code word for "waiting and fretting." 😛

Column topics; whatch

It’s been a few months since I’ve written any of my weekend articles for Suvudu. And I’d like to start contributing more regularly to the Pyr house blog as well.

So, good people (and the rest of you)… What do you want to see? What topics would–related to the fantasy genre, gaming (but in a general sense, not something that’s more appropriate to my ENWorld column), the writing process, or anything else even remotely relevant–would you like to see me cover over the next few months?

Wait, what?

I just came up with an idea for a forthcoming WotC assignment that involves some adventure writing. Inspiration for said idea came–via a truly bewildering train of "logic"–from my socks.

Yes, really.

I think I’m going to save this story for the next time I get the dreaded "Where do you get your ideas?" question…

Now it gets dangerous

Tonight, George (my wife, for those of you who don’t know me and haven’t read my "about me" section) and I started what is supposed to be the first of our nightly–or at least, almost nightly–exercise routine.

This will not be the first time I’ve started an exercise routine. I hope that this one actually sticks.

It’s not just that I’m inherently lazy when it comes to physical stuff (though I’m that, too). It’s that I hate doing anything I really, really suck at. And boy, am I in pathetic shape. I mean, really. If I told you how long I was able to go on the eliptical and then the treadmill, before I had to stop, you’d be horrified. I know this, because I’m horrified. 😥

And I find it very hard to stick with stuff I’m bad at. I don’t deliberately quit; I just conveniently forget, or let myself get distracted. And "I’ll get back to it tomorrow" becomes "I’ll get back to it next week" becomes "I should have gotten back to it a month ago, shouldn’t I?"

I’m really going to try to stick with it this time. I know that I desperately need to. But then, I knew that last time, and the time before… Blargh. Someone just needs to invent Workout-in-a-Pill already.
