Wow. Have I had "January" spelled wrong in the prior entry all this time? That’s embarrassing.

So, haven’t updated in a while, but here’s the news to date. First off, I’ve had a number of articles come out for Dragon and Dungeon online magazines. There are the two linked articles, "Codex of Betrayal: Alloces" and "The Spawn of Alloces", in Dragon 373. And we had "Deities and Demigods: Bane," from the prior issue, Dragon 372.

Second, Wizards has announced a large portion of their schedule for the rest of this year, and there are a great many books to which I contributed: The Eberron Campaign Guide, the Eberron Player’s Guide, Draconomicon 2: Metallic Dragons, and–most important to me personally–The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos. Why is this last one so important to me? Because it’s the first major D&D book from Wizards of the Coast on which I served as Lead Designer. (For those who don’t know, that means that I envisioned and put together the outline–with input from the WotC staff, of course–parceled out assignments, approved some of the basic material, and so forth.) I also, in addition to those duties, wrote an enormous chunk of the book. Hopefully, most of you will feel that I did at least a halfway decent job; it was a lot of hard work, but it was a great privilege.

Finally, I promised to announce the new title of my novel–formerly Shades of Grey–once it was decided. Well, after much discussion with my editor (and between him and his publisher), the title of the novel going forward is The Conqueror’s Shadow. I believe it should still be hitting shelves early next year.

And I believe that does it for now.

Well, this is it. As of today, Agents of Artifice is officially and legitimately on shelves and for sale. Obviously, this isn’t my first writing credit, not even my first novel, but I’m incredibly stoked for all that. It’s my first wide release novel, and my first fiction hardcover. Heck, it’s even supposed to get endcap placement in some of the major bookstores. 🙂

And yes, I may very well head down to the local Barnes & Noble just to see it. 😉

As you may recall, I was contracted by Wizards of the Coast to write a Ravenloft novel entitled Black Crusade, but that the new Ravenloft fiction line was canceled before the book went to press.

But then, we all know that nothing stays dead in Ravenloft, don’t we?

Black Crusade is appearing as a weekly serial on the Wizards of the Coast web site. You can find the first installment (the novel’s prologue) here.

While of course I’d prefer an actual hard copy, I’m thrilled that the novel is seeing publication in some form, and I’m looking forward to discussing it with folks as more chapters appear.

And while it’s not quite out yet, Agents of Artifice is now available for preorder from sites across the web.
