Fantasy and horror

So I just did a guest blog/author introduction on Joshua Palmatier’s blog, discussing the links between fantasy and horror. Click on over, and let me know what you think.

Many thanks to Joshua for the opportunity. πŸ™‚

Done! Done! Done! Done!

96960 / 95000 words. 102% done!

And that’s it, folks. Zero draft of the Work in Progress is complete.Β  😎 And despite all my worries, it’s a hair over target word count, while still well enough within the target range to allow for either additions or deletions in editing/rewrites.

Time for some serious celebration. By which I mean a little junk food and a nap. I’m a real wild child.

Um, ow?

How, exactly, did I manage to screw up my ankle on a damn in-home pedal exerciser?! That’s like cutting yourself on a freaking pretzel!

Oh, wait. I’ve done that. πŸ˜•Β  (Drew blood and everything, and yes, I have witnesses.)

Still shouldn’t have happened, damn it. It’s not like 20 minutes on a pedal exerciser is precisely an intense, injury-prone workout. πŸ˜›

Almost there… or Am I?

72339 / 95000 words. 76% done!

I’m pretty much precisely on course here. Twelve out of sixteen chapters is 75%, and I’ve got 76% by word count.

Which would be great, if I didn’t have a number of short chapters ahead of me. I was actually hoping to be ahead on word count by now. 😳

Well, we’ll see. Not like it’s a disaster if I don’t come in precisely where I wanted, long as it’s not too far off…

Three to go

76837 / 95000 words. 81% done!

Thirteen chapters down, with… Well, see the subject line.

It’s a short chapter–shortest in the book, in fact. As to whether that proves a problem, guess we’ll see what the next chapters look like.
