OLD News
So, remember when I said that there was almost no chance of this last chapter being close to 7K in length?
Well, I’m at 5K, and I’m only just now getting to the final confrontation with the main villain. ๐ฏ
Guess this 16-chapter book just became 17.
There are few things I hate more than having to get up early. (Yes, I realize that 8:00 isn’t early for most people, but I’m a night owl, and setting one’s own hours is one of the few benefits of self-employment.)
But among them is having to get up early when I had trouble getting to sleep the night before. There are very few things I hate more than that.
But among them is dreaming that I can’t sleep! GAH!!! ๐ฟ
Hate, hate, hate!
On the plus side, the reason I’m getting up early is a half-day visit from one of my best friends (and my boss on all things Scarred Lands, back when I was working on that setting), Joe Carriker.
But I have every intention of napping after he leaves. ๐
(And of course, the night before we have an out-of-town guest, both the regular vacuum and the Roomba broke down. I’d ask "What are the odds?" but apparently the answer is "Pretty damn good.")
So I just did a guest blog/author introduction on Joshua Palmatier’s blog, discussing the links between fantasy and horror. Click on over, and let me know what you think.
Many thanks to Joshua for the opportunity. ๐
96960 / 95000 words. 102% done!
And that’s it, folks. Zero draft of the Work in Progress is complete.ย ๐ And despite all my worries, it’s a hair over target word count, while still well enough within the target range to allow for either additions or deletions in editing/rewrites.
Time for some serious celebration. By which I mean a little junk food and a nap. I’m a real wild child.
