96960 / 95000 words. 102% done!

And that’s it, folks. Zero draft of the Work in Progress is complete.  😎 And despite all my worries, it’s a hair over target word count, while still well enough within the target range to allow for either additions or deletions in editing/rewrites.

Time for some serious celebration. By which I mean a little junk food and a nap. I’m a real wild child.

I don’t care how geeky it makes me, I’m going to be seeing this opening weekend. 😀

And I love the new version of the recognizer. It’s my current desktop wallpaper.

That’s chapter fifteen down, with only the sixteenth left. 🙂

I think the book’s not going to make the targeted 95K words. There’s almost no chance of the last chapter being almost 7K long–that’d make it one of the longest in the book, and I’m just not expecting that based on what’s left to cover. But it’ll still put me in the low 90s, and I’m quite content with that.

So, remember when I said that there was almost no chance of this last chapter being close to 7K in length?

Well, I’m at 5K, and I’m only just now getting to the final confrontation with the main villain. 😯

Guess this 16-chapter book just became 17.
