Congratulations!

I want to take a moment to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all of this year’s Nebula Award winners… But most especially to my dear friend (and the fabulous designer of this very site) Eugie Foster. Her โ€œSinner, Baker, Fabulist, Priest; Red Mask, Black Mask, Gentleman, Beast,โ€ won the award for Best Novelette.

Kudos to you, Eugie, and to everyone else who won. Wonderful job. ๐Ÿ˜€

Greetings, Program

I don’t care how geeky it makes me, I’m going to be seeing this opening weekend. ๐Ÿ˜€

And I love the new version of the recognizer. It’s my current desktop wallpaper.

"Recognizer"

One to go…

88248 / 95000 words. 93% done!

That’s chapter fifteen down, with only the sixteenth left. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think the book’s not going to make the targeted 95K words. There’s almost no chance of the last chapter being almost 7K long–that’d make it one of the longest in the book, and I’m just not expecting that based on what’s left to cover. But it’ll still put me in the low 90s, and I’m quite content with that.

Why do I even try to guess?

So, remember when I said that there was almost no chance of this last chapter being close to 7K in length?

Well, I’m at 5K, and I’m only just now getting to the final confrontation with the main villain. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Guess this 16-chapter book just became 17.

Stupid sandman…

There are few things I hate more than having to get up early. (Yes, I realize that 8:00 isn’t early for most people, but I’m a night owl, and setting one’s own hours is one of the few benefits of self-employment.)

But among them is having to get up early when I had trouble getting to sleep the night before. There are very few things I hate more than that.

But among them is dreaming that I can’t sleep! GAH!!! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Hate, hate, hate!

On the plus side, the reason I’m getting up early is a half-day visit from one of my best friends (and my boss on all things Scarred Lands, back when I was working on that setting), Joe Carriker.

But I have every intention of napping after he leaves. ๐Ÿ˜›

(And of course, the night before we have an out-of-town guest, both the regular vacuum and the Roomba broke down. I’d ask "What are the odds?" but apparently the answer is "Pretty damn good.")
