August 13, 2010: Conventions!

Well, my convention schedule has suddenly sprouted.

First off, I’ll be doing several panels at ArmadilloCon (August 27-29) right here in Austin at the Renaissance Hotel. At the moment, my schedule looks like this:

Friday, 5:00 PM–Anti-Heroic Fantasy: Flawed to Very Flawed Heroes, in the Sabine room.

Saturday, 11:00 AM–Gaming and Its Impact on Writing, also in the Sabine room.

Sunday, 11:00 AM–The Heroic Quest, Making it Interesting, also also in the Sabine room. (I should just camp out there.)

Sunday, 2:00 PM–signing, in the dealer’s room.

Now, I probably won’t be spending too much time at the con outside of my panels and signing, as I have work to do over that weekend as well. But if any of you are in the Austin area, or can make it down, I’d love to see you.

I will also be doing DragonCon, in Atlanta, over the weekend of September 3rd. I don’t yet have a fixed schedule, other than doing the "Stroll with the Stars" at 9:00 AM on Sunday. But as soon as I have anything scheduled, I’ll post it.

Nothing too major to announce today… Except that The Conqueror’s Shadow will be getting a UK release. 😀 And no, I don’t just mean that copies of it will be available in the UK; I mean a specific printing by a UK publisher, for the UK market.

I guess this means I’m an international author, now. That’s–kinda weird, actually.

The UK cover should look a little something like this:

So, been a while without much news. Let’s see…

The Tomb of Horrors 4e is out, in at least some locations, and should be more or less everywhere next week. This mega-adventure can be played without any knowledge of the prior adventures, but for those who are familiar with them, it serves as something of a sequel to both the 1st edition original Tomb and 2nd edition’s Return to the Tomb of Horrors. It’s heavily inspired by both, involves some familiar locations, and is absolutely full of new encounters–some combat, yes, but also traps, challenges, and puzzles in the vein of Acererak’s old tricks. If you’re a 4E player, pick it up; I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I’m afraid that I will not be attending GenCon this year–for the first time since before it moved to Indy. 🙁 I’m sorry I’ll be missing everyone. I still might be doing DragonCon; dunno yet. More on that soon.

And I think that’s about it right now, news-wise. Again, I’m hoping to have more shortly, but, well, not yet.

And the Best of the Worst contest has its winners!

Congratulations to Stella Evans and David Earle! Stella will be receiving a signed copy of The Warlord’s Legacy (as soon as it’s released), while David will be receiving that and signed copies of The Goblin Corps and Agents of Artifice.

My sincerest thanks to everyone who participated. And don’t despair if you didn’t win. I’m sure I’ll be doing more contests in the not-too-distant future.
